Sewing and crafting is a Lutheran tradition and a wonderful way to help those in need. As part of Ascension's Textile Ministry, church members gather every Thursday from 1:00 - 3:00 p.m. to work on sewing, knitting and crafting projects. All skill levels are welcome to join in the fun!
Ascension's sewing circle works on a variety of projects, such as quilts for Lutheran World Relief and comforters for the Churchill Downs Backside Ministry. Quilts are shipped throughout the world to those in need, including refugee camps and people recovering from natural disasters.
Do you enjoy knitting, crocheting, or would you like to learn? Women In Stitches creates prayer shawls, stuffed comfort bears, cuddly crocheted animals, and more to share with those in need. Handmade items are prayed over and dedicated to God and His purpose. Items are given with love to hospitalized children, Hosparus patients, those grieving, and anyone in need of some comfort and prayer.
