First Communion classes will begin on March 23. The First Communion classes take 3 weeks and will take place during the 9:30 AM Sunday School hour. We will meet in classroom 7. The first week the students will learn about some of the symbols surrounding communion and will design and paint their personal chalice. These will then be sent off to be “fired” (glazed). On March 30th the students will learn about the meaning and importance of communion. Then on April 6th the students will review Martin Luther’s explanation of Holy Communion and will prepare to share the meaning behind the symbols on their chalice. First communion will take place during 10:45 AM worship on April 6th. First Communion is typically offered in 4th grade, but for any student whose parents believe their child is ready, 3rd grade students are welcomed as well.
