- Opportunities to serve in leadership and planning are available through service with a variety of committees, such as Church Life, Learning, Worship/Music, or Church Council.

- Lay participation in worship is a foundational aspect of Lutheranism. From reading the scriptural lessons for the service; acting as worship assistant to the minister; greeting and ushering; operating the sanctuary computer for multi-media during worship or baking the bread we use for communion.

- Men's Prayer, Bible Discussion and Breakfast Group - Men meet at church 8 am every Saturday for prayer, Bible study and breakfast.
- Woman's Bible Study - Mondays at 10:00 am
- Woman's Community Bible Study - Tuesdays at 6:30 pm
- Prayer Ministry - This is a special prayer time at 3 pm on Wednesdays.
- Young Adults Group - Young adults participate in adult Sunday school, prayer and Bible study groups as well as their own fellowship activities, such as going out to restaurants, trivia contests, concerts and overnight trips.

- Congregational Fellowship - Social events such as game playing, movie nights, chili cook-offs, church picnic, ice cream social and potluck dinners are several times a year and are a great way to get to know church members.
- Prime Timers - Those in the prime of their lives enjoy dinners, plays, Churchill Downs and other outings once a month.
- Super Seniors - Thursdays at 10:00 am
- African Fellowship - Sundays at 3:00 pm
- Pumpkin Patch - This event is open to the public and is a fundraiser for Ascension youth activities.
- Sew Much Fun - Meets the 2nd Monday of the month from 1 - 3 pm
- Supper Groups - For couples and singles who love good food and fellowship, supper groups of 8 to 10 meet about once a month in homes and restaurants. New groups are formed every 4 to 5 months.
- Youth Activities - Led by our Youth Director, Ascension has an active ministry for youth of all ages.
